In the walled garden there are two raised ponds
that allow 'dipping' even for pupils in wheelchairs. One pond has shelving
access from the raised herb garden and attracts frogs, toads and newts.
Between the two ponds there is a rich diversity of wildlife.
In the meadow there is a field pond. Dug out by B.T.C.V. volunteers some fifteen years ago it has long become a breeding place for amphibians and dragonflies. A raised board walk allows wheelchair access to one side of the pond. Water levels in the field pond are dependent on the general water table and fluctuate greatly throughout the year.
